Who is behind the workshop

Organizers and committees

Two organizing committees run one day. Each track keeps its own program committee and reviewing process; the shared sessions are organised jointly.

CVPath track

Soumick Chatterjee

Genomics Research Centre, Human Technopole, Milan, Italy

Postdoctoral researcher on unsupervised phenotyping and deep learning for medical imaging, linking imaging to molecular data. Also Lecturer in AI for Medical Imaging at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg. Co-organizer of REHMED 2026 at ECML-PKDD and organizer of the SMILE-UHURA challenge.

Francesco Ciompi

Computational Pathology Group, DIAG, Radboudumc, The Netherlands

Associate Professor and leader of the AI for Precision Medicine group, working on deep learning for whole-slide image analysis and multi-stain tissue understanding. Organizer of computational pathology workshops and grand challenges, including COMPAYL and TIGER.

Khrystyna Faryna

Lead organizer, OWL challenge

PhD candidate in AI for histopathology, focusing on domain shift, biomarker discovery and AI interpretability. Co-organizer of COMPAYL workshops and the LEOPARD challenge. Lead organizer and administrator of the OWL challenge.

Evgenia Martynova

Computational Pathology Group, DIAG, Radboudumc, The Netherlands

Postdoctoral researcher working on deep learning across imaging modalities for tissue analysis and tumour-immune interactions, with a focus on multiplex and beyond-H&E imaging.

Francesco Merolla

University of Molise, Campobasso, Italy

Associate Professor of Anatomic Pathology and Medical Consultant at AOU Federico II, Naples. Practising pathologist with research interests in digital pathology and molecular diagnostics.

Antonio Maria Rinaldi

DIETI, University of Naples Federico II, Italy

Associate Professor working on knowledge representation and multimedia information systems. Head of the IKNOS Research Unit and of the CINI Digital Health Laboratory UNINA unit, and leader of COSMO Lab (CNR IEOS-UNINA).

Cristian Tommasino

DIETI, University of Naples Federico II, Italy

Primary contact, CVPath

Researcher in computer vision for computational pathology, working on deep learning safety, adversarial robustness and lightweight nuclei instance segmentation. Co-organizer of AIBio 2025 at ECAI 2025 and REHMED 2026 at ECML-PKDD 2026.

Marios Petrov

University of Colorado Colorado Springs, USA

Primary contact, Vision4Neuro

PhD candidate in the UCCS NeuroCognition Laboratory, working on EEG-to-video reconstruction, open-set recognition for EEG brain-computer interfaces, and multimodal vision-language models for gaze-based clinical classification. Co-founder and Lead Research Engineer at NeuroSentient Technologies, developing gaze-driven assistive communication systems.

Adham Atyabi

University of Colorado Colorado Springs, USA

Associate Professor of Computer Science and Director of the NeuroCognition Laboratory, with a PhD in cognitive and computational neuroscience from Flinders University. He was previously a member of the Data Acquisition and Analytics Core of the Autism Biomarkers Consortium for Clinical Trials at the Yale Child Study Center, and later at the University of Washington and Seattle Children's Research Institute. His research spans brain-computer interfaces, EEG and fNIRS analysis, eye tracking, and machine learning for neural signals.

Terrance E. Boult

University of Colorado Colorado Springs, USA

El Pomar Endowed Professor of Innovation and Security and co-director of the Bachelor of Innovation degrees, leading the Vision and Security Technology (VAST) Lab. His work established open set recognition and novelty detection as core problems in computer vision. A co-founder of the Computer Vision Foundation and its Treasurer, he chaired the IEEE Technical Committee on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence and has served in general and program chair roles at WACV.

Frederick Shic

Seattle Children's Research Institute and University of Washington, USA

Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Washington, Adjunct Professor of Computer Science and Engineering and of Psychology, and Principal Investigator at Seattle Children's Research Institute, where he directs the Seattle Children's Innovative Technologies Laboratory. Trained in computer science at Yale, he studies the mechanisms and markers of autism and other neurodevelopmental conditions using eye tracking, functional near-infrared spectroscopy, and technology-enhanced behavioural paradigms.
